Dearest,

It started off like another day but there was a catch. I had a seriously sick feeling at the pit of my stomach and my head spun like a Ferris-wheel!
I was sick.
I decided to get rid of the feeling through 'pain endurance' (one of my more noted trademarks), because I couldn't as well break my fast! That would be weak. Instead, I decided to take the pain, and carry on without a hitch.
I taught my student 'Muhtasim' from 1030 to 1100 and met an old friend, who is also my mother's English student. She and I go way back to when I was in middle school.
She's been coming to my mom every afternoon three days a week, for over 10 years now, to do English - and she doesn't want to leave! :)
After she left, I prayed the afternoon prayer and read the Quran for an hour, since, as usual, the electricity failed.
I decided not to turn go online in the afternoon and took a nap.
Mom went off to a friend's house. It was her friend's daughter's birthday. It's interesting you see, dearest, because this Virgo girl lined up all her dolls in front of the TV one day and told them to stay put and watch TV until she returned. The only question that remains is where she was returning from. :)

Anyway, after 'Asr' prayers I decided to give a shot at asking a question on a live TV show for the first time. I thought they won't pick up as the lines are usually quite busy during the show, but they received on the first ring and told me to wait, as the presenters were answering another question at the same time.
The ATN Bangla channel aired the program called "Islamic Sawaal O Jawaab" (Islamic Question and Answers) before Iftar. I asked about why some consider it virtuous to recite the Sura 'Kahf' on Friday.
The elderly and knowledgeable Islamic scholar on the show informed me that there is no such Hadith that indicated the accuracy of this statement, and that simply reading the Quran is a virtue on its own.

Mom came home after Magrib, with a boxful of (mmm) delicious food, which Ratna aunty gave.

Now I'm going to pray.

Mom's Recipes - Part V

Dearest, Today we cook beef with tomatoes and potatoes. Ingredients: 1kg beef brisket 3 big, fat onions (chopped) 4 big tomatoes Half cup soya oil Ginger, onion paste Grind together 2 bay leaves, 5 garlic cloves, 5 cardamoms, 3 sticks of cinnamon squish :) Method: Heat oil, put chopped onions, tomatoes and all the ground spices and ginger/garlic paste. Add one tbsp salt, 3tsp turmeric and 2 mugs of water. Bring to boil. Add the washed beef to the boiling spice mix and turn down the heat. Simmer for 1 hour. Tenderize! :O Add water if necessary and add the potatoes. Tenderize! :) Add jeera powder (jeera phaki) and coriander powder (dhania phaki). :) Till we eat again! Lots of beefy love, M.

Psyche - Layer 05

"We go down, we do time, We rise up, to fall in line, Real racers don't shed tears, Real racers respect their peers..." Dearest, I just finished watching Fast and Furious. Was it good? It was unbelievable! And to think Vin Diesel produced it! Man is he loaded! ;P The storyline was fantastic, the action was ridiculous and the one-liners were corny. It was a good movie although rottentomatoes gave it a rotten 28% saying, "While Fast and Furious features the requisite action and stunts, the filmmakers have failed to provide a competent story or compelling characters." The story was the only thing I found to be competent, call me whacko. :P I'm a big racing game fan, so I like watching these 'cheesey' movies. My psyche regarding games and movies is more closely 'attached', if that's one way of putting it. I woke up to find mom watching HBO, and it was airing The Making of Fast and Furious . I watched through it, but little did I know ...
